While seaching the internet for slings, I found an antique dealer's website that had some ancient Incan artifacts. One of them was a sling made from the fiber of a South American agave-like plant. The pouch was a net made of interlocking braids. When endeavoring to reproduce it, I couldn't find the right type of fiber, so I elected to use jute. Unfortuneatley, when braiding the cords on my braiding table, I used too little weight, which made the braids rather bulkier than those on the origional sling. Also, my method of attaching the braids of the pouch to the cords was not very durable, rendering the sling unfit for actual use. It was however, a good learning experience, and I now know how to make a better one.
